Bible Reading Plan

Change Coming for Bite of Bread Mondays

Bite of Bread May 25-June 1

Something has been bothering me about the Bite of Bread.

Every Monday morning when I write and post (hopefully by 8 which should’ve been by 7) a little voice in the back of my head whispers, “The people depending on this reading plan for the week needed it before they got up this morning…some are already at work.”

The voice has been getting louder. But…

[tweetability]I find it’s easier to keep doing what I’m used to even if it’s not productive or wise.[/tweetability]

Do you do this? Do you ignore a problem or stay in your rut because change demands effort?

So…I’ve known the Bite of Bread reading plan has needed to move to Sunday, but Sunday is my Sabbath. It’s my one day off. Plus the morning is busy getting ready for church. If I change the Bite of Bread to Sunday, I have to prewrite it the week before.

That means I have to pull up my big girl pants and get organized.

That means I covet your prayers.

Organization isn’t my strong suit. I’m more of a “go with the flow of the Holy Spirit” type. But the Holy Spirit is available 24/7. He can work with a schedule. He is Present even when I write something 3 days ahead of time.

[tweetability]He is always Here. I just need to sit still, breathe deep, and thank Him for always being beside me and inside me.[/tweetability]

Is there something in your life that you need to change?

If you’ve heard that voice whispering like the one in my head, I’ll hold your hand as we go for the change this week. Remember you’re not alone.

I’ll be praying for you as I make my own changes. And I thank you ahead of time for praying for me.

Let’s start now: “Dear Jesus, thank you for your Holy Spirit who whispers wisdom into our minds. Often fear or lack of energy stops us from following your whispers of change. But we know you love us and you want what is best for us and those we love. Help us change, Lord. We can’t do it with out your empowering grace. Thank you Jesus. Amen.”

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think about moving the Bite of Bread to Sunday. Also, if you need specific prayers for things you need to change please leave a comment or e-mail me at [email protected].

See you Wednesday! Thanks for reading.

Much grace,

Andy, I woke up at 4am this morning with “change” on my mind and wrote down some of the thoughts I couldn’t put to bed. One thought was that if we change but have no structure or discipline, it’s like having loose change in your pocket. You may have what you need but you don’t know until you find yourself digging around for it. BUT if you have some organization, some reflection, some structure–you can always “make change”. I don’t know if this makes any sense–just random thoughts in the middle of the night! Much love–Mel

    1. Wow…thanks Melissa. I’ll have to talk with you about this one. I’m chewing on it. After posting on Sunday, I’m reconsidering the change. Maybe your words are telling me to persevere with the change. I definitely had to me more organized and disciplined to have it done for Sunday. I’ll be praying.

  2. Andy, I feel overwhelmed at times and need to plan better also. Mostly, I think the thing I need to change is the wisdom and willingness to say no to good things, so I can be doing the best things. Thank you for sharing so openly and I’ll be praying for you as you follow the Spirit’s leading in making changes too.

P.S. It was so great to see you again last week! Blessings on you :)

    1. Hey Lynetta! Thank you so much for your prayers and leaving a comment. I love your prayer for wisdom to choose the best things. Add me to that prayer too! Loved seeing you again too. Many blessings!
