Bible Reading Plan on “Called” #BiteofBread

My voice lacks volume. It’s like it’s turned down, and I can’t adjust the knob, not much anyway. Some days it’s worse than others.

When my kids were little, I could never yell loud enough for my sons to hear me call them back into the house for supper. After three or four attempts I’d have to find my daughter and ask her to yell at her brothers playing in the park behind our house, which she had no problems or  qualms doing. Her voice is LOUD!

“BOYZZZZZZ!!!!!!! Come home!!”

It only took her one big sister yell, and they came.

Sometimes we call out to God with frustrated voices, sometimes soft and tired.

And God calls to us.

I’ve never experienced His call to be overwhelmingly loud or booming. God’s call seems to always be a still small voice.

His call is also an invitation. It’s never a command.

We call on the name of the Lord, and the Lord calls us to Himself.

Let’s study what the Lord desires of us, what His calling calls us to, and the blessings of that call. We’ll also read about the promises given to those who call upon Jesus.

You ready? Grab a journal and jot down this reading plan or take a screen shot. Or you can print out the verses and questions for each day here.

Sneak Peek:

Romans 10: 12-13 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,  for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

2 Chronicles 7:14:  . . . if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Ephesians 1:18:  I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people . . .

1 Peter 1:15: But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

Jude 1-2: Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, to those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.

1 Peter 2:9: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

2 Timothy 1: 8-10:  So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.  He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,  but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
