A Book on Prayer that Takes You to Heavenly Places: A #Giveaway

I’ve found a new favorite author and book that will take permanent residence on my bookshelf and in my heart. When I’ve found something great, I have to share it. That’s why I talk and write about Jesus all the time. But . . .

I enjoy wordsmiths who not only teach me, but whose words stir my soul. This is what the pen of Robert Benson does. He writes in a rhythm and grace that causes the words to dance into your spirit where they linger for awhile. Peace settles in you. And your mind sets toward higher things.

There are many books on prayer, but there may never be enough books on the subject because I’ve come to realize how many people are desperate to know more about how to pray. But I have to warn you that Living Prayer is like no other book I’ve read on this subject. It doesn’t teach the “how to” as much as the “how to be”. Truly, prayer is not a method so much as it is a way of life.

Here’s a peek:

“God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light,” we pray as the dawn begins to break. “This very day the LORD has acted.” The morning light is on us, God having chosen again to give us light and life. The world is created anew each morning, and Eden for us to explore, a garden in which to wander and wonder. It is good to get up early to see it fresh with the dew; God does much of His best work around sunrise.

“We praise You with joy, loving God, for Your grace is better than life itself. You have sustained us through the darkness and You have blessed us with life this new day.” We give thanks acknowledging the One Who gives all gifts. We see the trees around us, stark and silent with winter, bright and lush come the spring, bursting with blooms and blossoms in summer, brilliant and breathtaking with autumn. We see our homes around us, our families, our children, our lovers, our friends, the ones to whom we have been given again this day. Grateful is a better way to begin our day than with only the worry and weariness of the burdens to be borne.  (Living Prayer, p. 82, 83).

Grateful.

Today, as many of us begin to prepare for the holiday week ahead, a week of thankfulness and thanksgiving to our God, I just wanted to tell you how thankful I am for you.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for praying and sharing and being my friends. I pray my words will always draw you closer to the One who loves you more than life itself. You are His prize possession. Never doubt this.

To show my thankfulness, I want to give my newest favorite book away.
