Scriptures to Help Us Worship #BiteofBread

David was one of God’s favorites. He wasn’t perfect. But God described him as a man after His own heart.

Do I want to be called a woman after God’s own heart?

Yes please. I’ll take two. Okay, one heart is all that is necessary, but how do I attain this– the characteristic that gave David this honor and favor with God?

David Edmonson writes about the 10 reasons why David was given this title. Edmonson lists great characteristics that all point to a life of worship. I believe the reason God placed this mantle of favor on David was because of his propensity for worship.

Learning to worship God intentionally everyday whether I felt like it or not changed my life.  Worship softens our hearts and opens our life to receive God’s favor and protection. And speaking praise to God somehow helps me trust him more. Using Scripture to help me worship reminds my heart and my mind of God’s goodness, faithfulness, strength, and promise.

Join me this week reading this Bible reading plan of praise and worship. Grab a pen and paper and jot down these verses or take a screen shot. They are all in 1 Chronicles 16. It’s such an interesting story of David. You’ll want to read the context around these scriptures.

As you take a little bit of time each day to read these verses, copy each word down in a journal, then turn that scripture into a prayer to God. Write your prayer down.
