I have this bad habit of dreading doing chores. Is this Lazy? Please don’t answer that.
The other night I was taking a bath when I whined to the Lord, “Oh….Lord, the bathroom is so gross.”
Well, clean it. He replied.

As simple as that. He was telling me to clean rather than bemoan the chore. Jesus has a great sense of humor…and have you ever noticed how practical He is? Why do I try to make things hard?
I cleaned the bathroom in probably only 15 minutes. Accomplishment. Satisfaction. Why did I dread it so? I often feel overwhelmed with the many chores and jobs I need to do. I wear many hats as I know you do too. And I confess not using my time well.
The problem: I gave up schedules after children entered my life. I could have a schedule now that they are almost grown, but I’m not good at it after twenty years of learning to live without one! Just when I get myself trained during one season, it drifts into a new one and my life changes.
What’s a girl gonna do?
Epiphany: Do one thing today I’ve been putting off.
Yesterday I experienced fulfillment after watering my thirsty plants. I guess I’ll go pull one weed today. Maybe pulling one will lead to two!
Question: How do you overcome the “I don’t want to do that” syndrome?
Much grace,
andy
ps. He’ll help us if we ask!
But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior, my God will help me (Micah 7:7).
