The clock is ticking. Christmas is only 23 days away. That’s a little over three weeks. Eek! As I type, millions of Americans are pushing and shoving to get that Black Friday deal they stayed up all night to acquire. Some are dragging their plastic Christmas tree out of storage (which I hope to do today) and some are thinking about how lonely and heartbreaking the holidays are.
In which category do you fit?
The truth is: it’s so easy to get wrapped up in the hustle or loneliness of the season that the whole reason for our celebration dilutes into wrapping paper, busted checking accounts, stress, or a gaping sink hole of sadness.
The next three weeks of the Bite of Bread reading schedule has been chosen to help focus our minds and hearts on the preparation of the birth of Immanuel.
God with us.
I pray these scriptures will stir in us deeper understanding of what “God with us” really means.
The world was never the same after His birth.
Get your journals, light a candle, pour some coffee. Before you do anything else on your Christmas list take time to sit with Him.
Challenge yourself to do this for the next 23 days if reading the Bible is not a habit for you already. I dare you.
With Joy,
andy
