Bite of Bread, Christmas

Bite of Bread: Bible Reading Plan for Christmas Week

Mary and Joseph were told to name Him, Jesus.

The angel in Joseph’s dream explained, “. . . because He will save people from their sins.”

His name is “Jesus” in our English language. But His Hebrew name is “Yeshua” which means to rescue or deliver.

From Hebrew His name was translated into the Greek, “Ieous” and then Latin, “Iesus” from where we get the name “Jesus.”

Yeshua

Ieous

Iesus

Jesus.

Rescuer

Savior

Forever.

Amen.

“Lord, Yeshua, settle our hearts as we wrap the last present, address the final Christmas card, and bake the third batch of our special holiday cookies. Wake us up early to spend time with the One whose name means “rescuer.”  Rescue us from the things that distract our focus on the magnitude of your birth. And help us this week to really ponder the meaning of your name. Forever. Amen”

May you have a blessed Christmas week wherever you are, whatever circumstances you find yourself in, and no matter who you are with or not with because Jesus, your rescuer, my rescuer is with us.

Much love,
