Then Jesus cried out, “When a person believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but the one who sent me. When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me. I have come into the world, as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in the darkness” (John 12:44-46).
What? Someone can believe in Jesus and stay in the darkness? That’s the way this scripture reads.
Which made me wonder what Jesus was talking about before He said these words. If you go a few back a few verses, Jesus is talking to the Pharisees who believe in Him, but who are afraid to publicly show their trust in Jesus as God. They are “under-cover” believers. They are still in the dark even though they believe.
Hmmm….
I think it is interesting that we can believe and still remain in darkness. What does that mean?
Just something to think about….Love to hear your thoughts.
Much grace and peace,
andy
