Praying the Psalms

(June 1, 2011 re-run)

Today, as I read this Psalm, I knew this was a prayer that went beyond my human petitions. This prayer contains the weight of eternity. I’ve added my own words in italics. Care to pray with me?

Oh Lord,

Your statutes are
WONDERFUL;
therefore I obey them.
the unfolding of your words gives
LIGHT;
it gives understanding to the simple.

I am so simple, Lord. I need you to bring revelation.

I open my mouth and pant. (Arms outstretched, face lifted to the sky, mouth wide open.)
longing for your commands.

I breathe in your Spirit.

Turn to me (show me your face) and have mercy on me,
as you always do to those who love
YOUR NAME

Help me love you more!

You are so faithful.
Direct my footsteps according to
YOUR WORD;
let no sin rule over me.

Redeem me from the oppression of
men,
that I may obey your precepts.

Make me bold!

Make your face shine upon your
SERVANT;
I want to reflect you!

and teach me your decrees
I want to Live for you Jesus.

Psalm 119:129-135

Thank you Lord. Amen.

Much grace and peace,
andy
