When I was growing up, I took piano lessons. I wanted to learn to play. Nobody was making me take lessons, but my mom did have to make me practice. I didn’t like to practice. “Practice makes perfect.” Well, maybe not perfect.
I remember my friends standing at our back sliding-glass door asking if I could play and my mother telling them. “No, she needs to practice twenty more minutes. Then she can play.” I hated that. Sometimes I could catch up with them, and other times they didn’t wait.
Good memories. Now.
What did you have to practice when you were younger? Did it help? Did you dread practicing at first and then enjoy it as you got better? Did it ever become a habit?
Today’s Jesus Calling says, “Practice praising and thanking Me continually throughout this day.”
Now this is something I might enjoy practicing. Not just twenty minutes. All day long.
I’m taking the challenge. Want to join me? …..”Wanna play?”
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the
earth.
Worship the Lord with
gladness;
come before Him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is He who made us, and we
are the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving
and His courts with praise;
give thanks to Him and praise
His name.
For the Lord is good and His
love endures forever;
His faithfulness continues
through all generations.
Psalm 100
If you have time today, write this entire Psalm down. Practice praying parts of it through out the day and week. Meditate on the goodness of the Lord. We have so much to be thankful for. As we practice this our half empty cup becomes half full and then some. Our pitiful melody becomes a beautiful chorus. This practice does indeed draw us closer to His Perfect.
Much love,
andy
