darkness, despair, God's absence

Depths of Despair

Seek Me with your whole being. I desire to be found by you, and I orchestrate the events of your life with that purpose in mind. When things go well and you are blessed, you can feel Me smiling on you. When you encounter rough patches along your life-journey, trust that My light is still shining upon you. My reasons for allowing these adversities may be shrouded in mystery, but My continual Presence with you is an absolute promise. Seek Me watching over you all the time.
(Jesus Calling, Sept. 1)
A very dear friend of mine is in the depths of despair. Problem after problem, vast loneliness, and illness consume her. She cannot feel God’s presence.
It dawned on me, as I typed the excerpt from today’s Jesus Calling, that if the author of this devotional heard God saying these words to her, she too must have experienced great difficulties in her life. She too knew despair and darkness.
We all have to some degree.
This Psalm spoke to me this morning:

If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me, even the darkness is as light to you” Psalm 139:11,12.

Even when we can’t see Him, he can see us.

So, in the depths of not knowing how to help my friend, I believe the Lord gave me the idea to ask you to share how you found God in your darkest moments. He promises His presence. What got you through?

Your testimony will encourage all of us.
Thanks!
Much love,
andy
