7 Scriptures of EnCOURAGEment: Find Your Brave

Scriptures of encouragement 2

Have you noticed that tucked inside the word that gives someone confidence and hope is the word COURAGE?

Encouragement.

I love the thought. And isn’t it true? When someone comes alongside you and cheers you on, something inside rises up, gathers strength and fortitude to keep on keepin’ on. Suddenly you’re brave again.

The word “discouragement” has the same word tucked inside. But “dis” and “en” make all the difference.

The enemy of our destiny wants us to stay discouraged, low on courage and hope to continue on the path God’s called us to. I’ve been fighting his tactics some myself this last week.

Oh, how we need each other. And how we need the Word to assure us of who is on our side. If you’ve been struggling with discouragement lately, I pray these verses will light an ember of courage in you. Even a small spark can turn into a great flame.

Isaiah 41:10-  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

John 14:27– Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

2 Timothy 1:7- For the Spirit God gives us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.

Psalm 16:8- I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
1 Peter 5:7- Cast all your anxiety on Him for He cares for you.
Jeremiah 29:11- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans of peace and not harm, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Isaiah 40:28-31- Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths will grow tired and weary, and young men will stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings as eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not grow faint.

Find your brave and then pass on the enCOURAGEment to a fellow sojourner.

Which of these verses is your favorite?

  1. Isaiah 40:31 is my favorite. I have it in cross-stitch.

I was motivated by recently reading with fresh eyes of Goliath’s fatal meeting with David, the shepherd-boy. Didn’t remember that David RAN toward Goliath — now that’s courage!

I love that courage isn’t something we have to produce, but that God gives when we call upon Him.

Thanks for this blessing today, Andy!

    1. Hey Joyce! Thank you for stopping by! That is a great scripture. I love the thought of David running towards the giant. God is so good. Much love!

  2. Ellen Casey

Ì agree with Sandy , it is helpful when the verse is right there. My intentions are good but sometimes life distracts me and I forget to look them up. Thanks, always a blessing.

  3. I can’t choose a favorite! They all minister to me. I loved the fact that you wrote out the scriptures–they are right there in my face immediately and I can read them instead of thinking I’ll get back to them later (and don’t always). Please continue to write out the scriptures with your posts. (Perhaps I’m being lazy, but I need them IN MY FACE EACH MORNING!)

    1. Hey Sandy! I’m so glad they blessed you. I’m wondering if you want me to write out the Bite of Bread verses. That’s a good idea! Thanks for stopping by and sharing. Blessings!

    2. Janice

I am big on “cheat sheets”… Concise, straight to the point words or “Bites” ready when my need is immediate. This “Bite” is a treasure! Again, thank you!

      1. You’re welcome! Thanks Janice!
