I’m thankful for a day set aside specifically for me to say “thanks”–to focus on what I have and not what I don’t.
[tweetability]But I want my thankfulness to be a lifestyle rather than a one day event.[/tweetability]
Sometimes I need help in the “thank you, God” department. These scriptures help. They give me eternal words to pray and ponder that go beyond the quick to change or fade blessings I so often focus on today. They help me live a lifestyle of thanksgiving.
Here they are:
“For everything God created is good and to be received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.” (1 Timothy 4:4) [Hallelujah! We can eat bacon.]
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love (chesed) endures forever.” (1 Chron. 16:34) [insertion mine.]
“…give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess. 5:18) [This one gets me every time.]
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. my heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song. (Psalm 28:7) [Love this.]
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Col. 3:17) [EVERYTHING we do.]
We are blessed, my friends. Enjoy the spirit of thankfulness. The more we practice it, the more it becomes who we are.
Which of these “thankfulness” scriptures is your favorite?
