Our family moved seven times. That’s not a lot to some people, crazy a lot to others–everything is relative. But what I liked about moving often was that I needed to trust God in the process. I had to trust that He was moving us to the town He wanted, and He would direct us to the right neighborhood and house where we needed to be.
When I came across this scripture today, I couldn’t resist. The powerful work of God’s hand in the lives of His people is so very evident in these words. Does it bring you comfort or does it rub you the wrong way? Do you want Him to be in control or does that seem foolish that our big God is in the details?
God’s sovereingty- His control is so hard to understand when free-will is mixed into the definition. Yet according to this scripture God has a purpose for us in the places we live. He often sends us places where we need Him–desperate places. Those are the places we choose to grow in Him or wither away.
I have no intentions to move any time soon; I like where we live. I can go to the beach every day! But if God moved us tomorrow, I would have to trust His timing and His work in the details and His purposes for my life as well as others.
Crazy isn’t it? That’s how much He cares.
Are you content with where you’re living now or are you wanting to move? Can you see any reason why God has placed you where you are? Do you have neighbors who need to KNOW Him? Do you need to dig deeper in your search for God? Maybe that’s why you are there.
Much grace and peace,
andy
