morning prayer

Coffee Date

A candle burning.

Flickering flame
Sweet purple aroma filling the room.
Ticking clock warning
Seconds flying by in the outside world
Time stopped here in the dark.
“Pour another cup of coffee and stay awhile.”
I feel the smile as You invite me to
Sit longer with You.
Though You are invisible
The butterflies in my stomach
Give away Your presence.
I know You’re here.
Suddenly images of faces
Fill my mind
Our visit becomes a partnership.
A joint effort to bring
Your Kingdom and Will on earth
As it is in Heaven.
How You love them
Jesus
I place them in Your hands
A motherless daughter
A freshly grieving husband
A sick missionary
A loveless marriage
Sick friends
Lonely people
New starts
New directions
Our time comes to a close
As chores of the day tug
At my sleeve like an impatient child.
“Not now!”
“Just a little longer with the Lord.”
“What now Lord?”
Isaiah 6:1-4
I read.
He speaks.
Amen and Amen.
“Fill my temple Lord!”
“May my praise shake the doorpost and cause smoke to fill the room!”
Amen and Amen.
It’s going to be a good day.
