This is what I heard from the Lord concerning last weekends proclamation from our president. I don’t think anything has convicted me of the need for repentance and the role the Church plays here like this.

Normally my teaching is based on a verse, but this time I’m sharing a Word from the Lord that was confirmed by scripture on our reading plan! Holy Spirit amazes me.

It's a new month and time for a new reading plan. If you need help knowing what to read everyday, my printables are free and provide a theme to dig into every month. This year we're studying the names and titles of Jesus. So much can be learned by studying a name. This month I tackled 2! And they are not easy names. I'm not sure what I was thinking, but maybe God does. :)

I think Jesus looked and acted too much like a man for the religious to believe He was the One. I would say the Jewish authorities thought Messiah would look like them, and that made them blind to the truth despite the title of the “Son of Man” given in Daniel. I really don’t know what they expected, but it wasn’t Jesus. This post was probably one of my most challenging. These titles of Jesus represent everything about Him including His purpose and His future reign. I was really surprised which one was which. The new reading plan started today too. Need help knowing what to read everyday? Here's a reading plan for you focused on "Christ."

the name “Christ” holds a very special meaning. In the Greek “Christ” means anointed, and its Hebrew counterpart is “Mashiach”– Messiah. When you put these names together, “Jesus Christ” means, Jesus the Anointed One or Jesus the Messiah. To call Jesus the Christ proclaims His identity. He was not just a prophet, good teacher, or martyr. As Peter proclaimed in Jerusalem in Acts 2, ““Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

He was Jesus Christ, Jesus the Messiah.

On the day that Peter preached his first sermon proclaiming this truth about Jesus, three thousand came to faith and were baptized. Three thousand! Most of these people were Jews who’d come to Jerusalem to celebrate Shavuot, the Jewish Pentecost–the celebration of Moses receiving and giving the Law. But on this Shavuot, God sent the new Law, the Law of the Spirit, and the hearts who were there to truly worship God and His goodness were moved by the Spirit, and persuaded by Peter’s sermon to receive the truth that Jesus was the Christ. They had missed the Messiah.

This word also means Anointed. He was the Anointed King whose Kingdom was not here on this earth. His anointing did not come at the hands of a great prophet like Samuel but two ordinary women who poured out the most expensive and precious oil they owned on this Rabbi named Jesus. With that same fragrance still wafting from his skin and clothes, Jesus Christ rode a donkey into Jerusalem, and a few days later hung on a cross quite possibly smelling like royalty.

This was revolutionary for me. I always have understood that praying in Jesus' name meant praying in His authority and power, not mine, but some research I did led me to an article explaining praying in His name this way. I was so blessed by this. God is not answering prayers according to how good we are. He answers our prayers according to the goodness, kindness, humility, and sacrifice of Jesus.

I hope that blesses you too. If it does, leave an "AMEN!"

You and I can't be and don't have to be good enough. Big sigh!
