Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses… (Hebrews 12:1a)
Who is in your great cloud of witnesses? Abraham? Moses? Peter? John? Mary of Nazareth? Mary Magdalene? A loved one? A friend?
Along with an Army of God, (read yesterday’s blog) we have cheerleaders cheering us on. A great cloud of witnesses. But the writer of Hebrews does not tell us to keep our eyes focused on the cloud around us, but to keep our eyes focused on Jesus.
…let us run with perseverance (after throwing off the sin that entangles us) the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…(Hebrews 12:2).
My physical running days are over. I’ve got to preserve what I have left; therefore, low impact exercise is recommended for this 46 year old body. But in my spirit, I love to run.
It’s a marathon, you know.
A marathon requires discipline. Training. Perseverance. Faith.
Drink plenty of His Living Water. Train for hours with Him daily. Long runs. Short runs. And extra long runs.
Can you hear your witnesses cheering?
Can you see His Face?
Keep running.
Much love,
andy
