In Ground Hog Day Bill Murray was a grouchy, selfish weather man who, despite his wishes, was sent to cover the story of the ground hog coming out of his hole. Day after day he woke up to the same day until he had a heart change.
As I opened Jack’s (the puppy) kennel door, I knew we would go through much of the same mistakes over and over again as we had yesterday. He’d bite the edge of my robe wanting to play; he’d puddle on the floor again and chase the cat. Time and time again I’d correct him, put him in time-out, and clean up the puddles.
I do see improvement. But he has a long way to go. The truth is, I have a long way to go as his teacher.
I wonder…does God feel this way about me? Does He give me opportunities time and time again to do the right thing until I have a heart change? Is it really Ground Hog Day over and over or am I leaving my selfish ways and learning to love? Trust? Obey?
How about you? What lesson do you seem to be learning over and over again?
I have a feeling, we all could use a heart change.
Much grace,
andy
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness (Lamentations 3:23).
