The best way to spend a morning. His word for me:

The best way to spend a morning. His word for me: “Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.” Isa 64:4

Do we trust his timing with our hearts? This verse spoke great trust into my heart this morning. Through all the hard things I can wait with great assurance and peace. All things are working together for my good but also for His good! I want my life to work for His good purposes. His kingdom, not mine. I’m not trying to build a kingdom for me. I am working to help build His and therefore, I will wait to see His next assignment for us. I’ll wait in peace and great assurance of the goodness of my God’s heart and His presence in my life.

You can wait with peace and assurance too because this is His nature. This is who He is for all of us who love Him and are called to His good purposes.

It’s with a heavy heart that I share with my friends and lovers of Hank, that we had to say goodbye to him Sunday night.

We’ll miss you, Mr. Hank! Thank you for praying with me every morning, cuddling up at night, and traveling across the country patiently many times. I prayed for a cat who’d make my empty nest not so empty, and you did that very well. So long, my friend. Sleep well.

Missing my mom today. Her birthday always brings b

Missing my mom today. Her birthday always brings back memories of selling my college books (because finals were over) to buy her a birthday/Mother’s Day gift. Alzheimer’s took her way too young. It’s been 15 years plus seven years of fighting the cruel disease. But the truth is all diseases are cruel. Thankfully, I know our Redeemer lives and I will see her again one day. Thanks for being a great mom, Mom. You are missed. ❤️

Life. Is. Hard. But you are not alone. Let this scripture wash over your weary soul and give you hope. He knows your name and he’s with you through all the hard stuff.

He is. He is faithful. God tells Moses this as the

He is. He is faithful. God tells Moses this as they prepare the 2nd set of tablets with the commandments. The 2nd ones! The people had sinned and made an idol to worship, and Moses got angry and broke the first set of tablets. But YHWH is a God of second chances, unwavering covenant, and merciful acts of kindness.

He is El Emet. The Faithful God. If you’ve experienced his faithfulness, leave an AMEN!

One of my favorite scriptures about El Emet, the F

One of my favorite scriptures about El Emet, the Faithful God, is found in Lamentations.

"Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,

for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;

therefore I will wait for him.”"

Lamentations 3:22-24

Do you know the context of these scriptures? The author (probably Jeremiah) penned this poem sitting among devastation and death. Jerusalem had been destroyed by the Babylonian army. Mothers were crying, babies hungry and cold, and the stench of death hung in the air.

Jeremiah himself suffered greatly. He had been mocked and bullied and yet he too experienced the horror of war. He wrote, “Surely is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all day” (Lam. 3:3 KJV).

He was suffering physically. Yet he wrote this jewel of hope in the middle of his lament. . . . Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed. . . . great is your faithfulness.”

Come dig a little deeper with me.

Word Study:

Love-

Chesed: the merciful, loving acts of kindness of God bound by a covenant.

Because of the Lord’s great chesed (covenantal, merciful acts of kindness) we are not consumed.

Lamentations 3:22 (Addition mine)

God will not break his covenant. Ever. We may have hard days. No doubt we’ll face grief and heartache in this life. We may even suffer at times, but one thing is for sure. He will never let us down. It may feel like he has, but that’s when we must cling to his truth.
