If you find yourself in a dark place, an empty pla

If you find yourself in a dark place, an empty place, seek Jesus because He is the Logos, the Word that created and filled the world, and the light that broke through the darkness. He is the One who can fill your empty and light the darkness around you. The apostle John wrote, “In the beginning was the Word (Logos), and the Word (Logos) was with God, and the Word (Logos) was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men” (John 1:1-4).

When the 1st Century believers read John’s words, Logos, meant more to them than our simple translation. Logos was the name they gave to the “governing power over everything.” They understood John’s words as: “In the beginning was The Governing Power, and The Governing Power was with God . . . . the Word (The Governing Power) became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1: 1,14).

Let that sink in. The baby whose birth we celebrate at Christmas, that baby, John says was The Governing Power poured into skin. But this ancient word contains even more meaning. According to Spiros Zodhiates, Logos also means intelligence or the expression of that intelligence.

So Christ was the expression of God’s divine intelligence. He was tangible, eternal wisdom like no other. Wisdom wearing hands and feet that created the world.

The Logos, the Creator of life and light became the light of life, the giver of eternal life. Though this may be my favorite reading plan because of the alliteration in the title (two L’s–Logos and Life), I have been amazed by the relationship of these two names for Jesus. They go together. Psalm 119 connects them beautifully. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” And that path leads us to eternal life.

When we married, Desert Storm was brewing. We moved our wedding up 3 months, planned it in 2 weeks, and had a beautiful August wedding with over 200 people attending. But many from Mike’s family couldn’t attend, so in December we drove to California from Texas to attend a dinner given by his parents for all of the Lee side to celebrate our marriage. This was us at this party with his dad. I was nervous. lol. And pregnant! And a few days later on our way home Mike received a call informing him he would be going to war. It was a looooong drive back. But my soldier got to fight in a war, and he came home safely in time for a baby to be born. It’s been a ride! Happy 34th Anniversary, Mike Lee @servewhereyoucan . I’m still crazy in love with you, and so excited about the next 34 years!

Did you know Jesus was a teacher? We think of Him

Did you know Jesus was a teacher? We think of Him as Savior, Redeemer, Good Shepherd, and Son of God, but He was a great teacher–the greatest. You won’t find His name on a list on the internet as a top world educator, but that is exactly what the title Rabboni means–teacher and master. Actually, Rabboni is the possessive form of the word Rabbi, and it means “my Rabbi.”

What is your favorite of Jesus’s teachings? Is it one of the parables? Or was it the Beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount, or His conversation with Nicodemus? I’m drawn to the parable of the Prodigal Son and the promise of the Beatitude that the pure in heart will see God. And perhaps in His conversation with Nicodemus I’m so thankful for Jesus’s words, “God did not send His son to condemn the world but to save it.” Oh hallelujah! I’m feeling a prayer coming on. Will you pray with me?

“Rabboni, our Teacher, you were and are the greatest of all the teachers of the world. None could challenge your wisdom and knowledge. You hold the secrets of the stars, the logistics of the bumble bee’s miracle, and the instructions for living our best life until you call us home. Your teaching frustrated the religious and invited all people, men and women, rich and poor, sinners and saints to learn from you. Open our minds and hearts as we study these scriptures. Give us ears to hear and eyes to see and the grace to follow your wisdom. We are so thankful for you, Rabboni. We give you praise. Amen and amen.”

If you haven’t made Jesus your Rabboni, the invitation is always open. He is a prayer away. Simply ask and you will receive Him. His grace, His love, His presence, and His salvation. It cost Him everything. Don’t forget. Make Him your Rabboni, your Master and Lord of your life. You’ll never regret it because He is the greatest teacher you can ever have.

Faith Friday thoughts: Life can be like a roller

Faith Friday thoughts:

Life can be like a rollercoaster at Six Flags. One of my favorite memories of summer growing up was our family’s annual trip to this amusement park. It was always so hot in Dallas, Texas in July. But I loved it—especially the rollercoasters even though the lines were long as we waited for our turn. I loved the thrill of the slow ride to the top and the crazy drop down with sudden curves and loops. I never feared for my life once. I never worried.

Life is not a fun ride at your favorite amusement park, but we all know those long waits and how life can heat up, and those sudden drops and loops and turns. It’s hard, but God.

I’ve been on a gnarly rollercoaster the past two years, but the Lord has been faithful. He is so consistent. He knows me, trusts me, and has the best plans for my life. I can trust him. You can trust him.

The second verse on the Prince of Peace reading plan was Isa. 26:2. I needed this verse. It came at just the right time as our plans seemed to take a sudden turn. The Lord whispered in my spirit, “Read the verse for Day 2.” As I read these words, I not only felt peace, I felt promise. His peace is a promise. It’s a promise of His goodness, faithfulness, and wisdom for my life.

The next verse is:
“Trust in the LORD forever,
For the LORD, the LORD, is the
Rock eternal.

Whatever comes your way today. Whatever rollercoaster ride you’re experiencing, trust Him. Claim Isa 26:3, and experience His peace like I did. Give yourself some grace. It’s going to be okay. He’s got it.

Is anybody else getting this word from the Lord? (

Is anybody else getting this word from the Lord? (I know of one other sister.)

On my "wog" (walk/jog) this morning, I kept hearing this word. It's been stirring in my spirit lately, this nudge to start running again, to continue writing and submitting proposals, to work mind, body, and spirit no matter how weak I feel or how old in years my body is. Push. Push. Push.

I've always been more of a laid back, fan of sabbath and grace girl, but though these are important truths, some chapters in our lives we're called to PUSH through. PUSH through for the breakthrough. PUSH through for the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual strength. Work those muscles! Al.l Of. Them.

This scripture has been on my mind, "Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level the paths for your feet," so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed" (Hebrews 12: 12).

PUSH beloved. PUSH. This isn't the season to rest. This is not my normal word. I even feel funny writing it, but I'm just passing on what the Lord is saying to me. Maybe He is saying it to you too and this is confirmation. Let me know if it is! 🔥

If He is saying the opposite to you, don't take it on. Rest until your time comes to Push.

As I read our scripture today on our Good Shepherd

As I read our scripture today on our Good Shepherd #readingplan, I was struck by the familiarity and comfort the disciples had with Jesus. They were so comfortable with Him, they argued with His words. They denied what He already knew. It made me wonder if I do that with Jesus. Do I ever argue with Him, or disagree with His wisdom? How different would it have been for the disciples if they had heeded this prophecy and prayed for it not to happen rather than trusting their own strength?

This really gives me pause. And it stirs this prayer. "Good Shepherd, please don't let me be so comfortable with you that I deny your Word or prompting of the Spirit. If you've warned me, let me take heed of it rather than ignore or deny your words. I pray this for the other sheep in the pasture with me here. Help us trust every word even when we don't like it. Show us how to pray rather than deny. Open our ears and hearts to trust you even when it's a hard word. We love you.

Amen."
