Tied Up Like a Bow

Dreaming of a white Christmas…..it was 76 yesterday!

It’s Friday. Christmas Eve Eve. And as I sit here typing my mind is flooded by the past events and posts. It feels as if the last few weeks were whirlwinds. Good whirlwinds. I thrive when I’m super busy. Yet when I’m going so fast I need to sit down to put it all together. I’m ready to slow down. How about you? I’m so looking forward to a long, lazy weekend (after I cook Christmas dinner!)

I need to take time to reflect on this past year and pray up the year to come, so I will be taking a break from my blog until January 1st. But before I take a break, I have to share these things to complete two posts.

Yesterday’s Meat Post: It’s been fun to receive responses from others who have been benefactors of God’s provision. One family found a ham on their front porch the day they were going to purchase one! One friend realized that she had store credit and only had to pay $1.50 for the treasured (2 years wanting) gift for her daughter. Another friend’s husband got a much needed job yesterday. It was as if manna-meat from heaven was coming down. All three of these ladies have had years of having to trust God daily for health and provision. He has provided.

Trip Like No Other Post: I have this habit of thinking of the words I wished I would’ve said hours later. I realized driving to the grocery at 5:00pm (10 hours later!) that I did not tell you from where our family was travelling in my post about our loooong Christmas road trips. In case you wondered, we were stationed at Ft. Bragg. So we started our trip in Fayetteville, North Carolina and literally drove across the country to California. 51 hour trip.

Sometimes Change is Good: I now love my new blogger dashboard. Just thought I’d let you know I am adjusting, and like it.

I feel there is more, but my flooded brain can’t think of the rest and my time is running out. I can’t go to work in my fluffy pink robe and p.j’s.  But I certainly do not want to leave you with my harried and hurried thoughts, so I want to close with one of my favorite Scriptures. I pray it might help settle our busy minds as we take time to ponder these words. Maybe sit in the glow of your Christmas tree in silence and ask for a stronger sense of His presence as you read this. I think it’s fitting as we close a year and start a new.

Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses….I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in His own time–God, the Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and might forever. Amen. (1 Tim. 6:12-16)

Wherever you are in thought or predicament this Christmas/New Year season, I pray you’ll find comfort and warmth in His presence trusting He has a ham on your front porch or a job in the next phone call. He lives in unapproachable light, but with Jesus we may enter. In God’s light, we are changed. And that is what it’s all about.

Merry Christmas my friends. See you next year!

Grace and peace,
andy
