Kingdom of Light

Resplendent

You (God) are resplendent with light, more majestic than mountains rich with game. (Psalm 76:4)

Resplendent.

It’s not my every day language. It’s what I call a $5.00 word.

Resplendent.

It rolls off my Oklahoma tongue with grace and beauty (which few words do), and it evokes an emotion within. My heart skips a beat. My mind wonders, “What does it mean? Really?”

I can gather meaning from the context, but I want to know what describes this $5.00 word because the psalmist used it to paint God Himself.

Webster writes: “Resplendent: shining brightly; full of splendor; dazzling; splendid.”

He is a God of light. Splendid light. To us He is The invisible God, but in the spiritual realm He is dazzling. And we are welcomed into that Kingdom of dazzling. It’s ours for the taking.

May we know such splendid lights in our hearts as we wait for the day when our faith will be sight.

Spend time worshipping this quality of our God.

My prayer for us today:

For this reason, since the day I heard about you, I have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of LIGHT. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:9-14)

Amen.

Grace and peace,
andy
