Bite of Bread: Scriptures on Worth

Worth.

The world places great worth on money, possessions, status, and how busy we are.

But the world’s scale and God’s are very different, and if you’ve lived very long, you know that the world’s precious valuables are fleeting and empty.

Take a screen shot or jot the verses down. If you struggle with knowing how to study a verse during your quiet time, one great method that my church suggests is S.O.A.P.

  • Scripture- Write down the scripture verse word for word in a journal (cheap spiral notebooks work great!).
  • Observation-Ask yourself, “What did I observe about the verse that struck me or spoke to me?”
  • Application-Write down how you could apply this to your life/day.
  • Prayer- Write out a prayer based on what you’ve learned and asking the Lord to help you apply it.

Monday through Friday, we have a live fellowship group on my Facebook author page that starts at 8:20 ET, and it usually lasts around 20 minutes. Each morning we unpack the “bite” for that day. If you can’t join us, I post the live video on the page, so that others can watch it later.

I’m really excited about this week’s Bite of Bread reading plan. I pray the Lord will speak to you in many ways as we study what has great worth to God.

One thing is for sure, His Word is of great worth to us! Are you finding that true more and more as you dig deep and study the Bible?

“You word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.” Psalm 119:89.

Leave a comment: Has there been something in your life that you thought would bring great satisfaction, but rather than filling you, it left you empty; it’s worth was temporary?

Digging Deep,

  1. […] As we’ve studied “Worth” this week, we’ve come across scriptures about suffe… and it made me realize that there are many theories about suffering, different theological camps that either believe we will suffer or we don’t have to because of victory in Christ. And though I do believe with all my heart that Christ has come to set us free, and He is the Healer of both our bodies and souls, the fact is that we still live in the middle of the now and not yet. And in God’s wisdom, suffering is still apart of this world. Who are we to question that? […]
