Bite of Bread: Intentional Worship

When I cannot feel the faith of assurance, I live by the fact of God’s faithfulness.

~Matthew Henry

David was one of God’s favorites. He wasn’t perfect. But God described him as a man after His own heart.

[tweetability]Do we want to be people that chase after God’s own heart?[/tweetability]

Yes please. I’ll take two. Okay, just one is all that is necessary, but how do I attain this–what was the characteristic that gave David this honor and favor with God?

David Edmonson writes about the 10 reasons why David was given this title. Edmonson lists great characteristics that all point to a life of worship. I believe the reason God placed this mantle of favor on David was because of his propensity for worship.

Learning to worship God intentionally everyday whether I felt like it or not changed my life. Worship softens our hearts and opens our life to receive God’s favor and protection. And somehow speaking praise to God helps me trust him more. Worship using Scripture reminds my heart and my mind of God’s goodness, faithfulness, strength, and promise.

I hope you’ll join me this week reading this Bible reading plan of praise and worship. Grab a pen and paper and jot down these verses. They are all in 1 Chronicles 16. I’ll place the plan on our Facebook fellowship page too.

As you take a little bit of time each day to read these verses, copy each word down in a journal, then turn that scripture into a prayer to God. Write your prayer down.

Bite of Bread 1 Chron. 16

Light your candle. Pour some java. Linger awhile in HIS Presence.

And worship.

You won’t be the same.

With purpose beyond today,
