Bible Reading Plan: Does God Always Answer?

Rocking chairs with script
In the past 4 years, I’ve written almost 600 posts. Strolling through my archives, I found this one written in 2011. It seemed fitting for our 30 Day Prayer Challenge.(click to read) If you are having trouble praying expectantly and thankfully, maybe this will help….

I went treasure hunting in the dark today. (Reading my Bible before sunrise.) This is what I found:

Why do you complain to Him that He answers none of man’s words? For God does speak–now one way, now another–though man may not perceive it. –Job 33:13,14

I’m always amazed when I find a “new” verse. Of course, it is not new. My eyes have touched it before; I’ve read Job several times. Yet today this jewel shone in colors too brilliant to miss.

As I wondered why I hadn’t  underlined this scripture during past readings, God whispered, “It didn’t speak to you because you didn’t have the need. Scriptures come to life when they speak into the heart of your questions….you had never experienced silence until last summer.”

His “silence” during my sister’s last days haunted me. I’ve taken comfort that Jesus Himself felt forsaken. I’ve been jealous of those who experience God’s tangible presence or visions during their pain. And I’ve questioned God’s “absence” in my life during her last days.
Yet this scripture promises that God always speaks. Jesus always answers.

This brings me comfort. God did not leave me; I was just unable to perceive His voice. His presence. Though He seemed silent then, He was answering me now.

So, if you are feeling abandoned today, forsaken by The Living God, claim this truth found in Job.
For God does speak–now one way, now another–though man may not perceive it. –Job 33:13,14
[tweetability]Ask the Lord of Hosts to open your heart to the things unseen and unheard. His voice comes in many forms.[/tweetability] (click to tweet)

He is with you.

Thank Him for your struggle and the need for comfort.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. –Matthew 5:3
His Word speaks into us when we desperately need Truth.
[tweetability]Our brokenness and questions allow the Word to come to Life–life we can’t experience when we are self-sufficient.[/tweetability]
God does always answer in His time and His way…and it’s good.

Bite of Bread Reading Plan

It’s just a bite a day. It may take you 3 minutes, maybe 15 depending on how the Word speaks to you. Grab your journal, light a candle, pour some coffee…enjoy.
