Christ's sacrifice/payment for our sin, faith, offering

An Offering of Faith

Have you ever done something because you believed you should? There were no grandiose emotions erupting from your soul– just a small little voice nudging you forward.

Sometimes when I write my post, I feel the words coming out of me. I’m a feel-er. I could easily be an emotionaholic . Following my emotions is easy because that is what I’ve done most of my life.

On the other side of this coin are people who are fact addicts. If they cannot prove something, then it is not true. Feelings are neutral for them.

But faith cannot be proven and it is not always felt.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead….And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrews 11:1-4,6).

I’m kinda thinkin’ it wasn’t Abel’s sacrifice that was so much better than Cain’s. I’m thinkin’ it was his heart behind the offering. He gave his sacrifice not out of obligation or fact or feeling but out of a heart who was seeking God. There was no doubt in his mind that he was to give his best for the day. He did not live to please himself or others, but the God who he was seeking………

My posts have become one of my offerings to God each day. I have to seek Him before I write. Sometimes I write with absolute certainty God has spoken. Today, I am writing simply out of faith. I’m trusting that somebody (if only one) needed to be encouraged and strengthened today to believe.

We each have an offering to give each day. Sometimes it is tangible, but sometimes our faith is the offering. We are promised that the Lord rewards those who earnestly seek Him. That reward my friends, is HIMSELF.

Seek. Not only when you feel like it.

Seek. Not because it makes sense.

Seek. Because that is what He rewards.

Much Grace and peace to you,

andy
