A Little Fishy

One day, a long, long time ago, Jesus was standing beside a lake (also called the Sea of Galilee). He was teaching– as He was always doing. It was a normal day. But on this day so many people came out to hear Him preach that Jesus didn’t have room to breathe much less preach, so He got in a boat, floated out away from the shore a bit, and preached from His new watery pulpit. Jesus was very resourceful.

When He finished teaching He looked at Simon and said, “Simon, go out a little farther and put the nets down to catch some fish.”

Simon replied, “Really? Are you sure? We already tried and got nothing. We are so tired, but if you say so, we’ll try again.”

When the fisherman let down the nets there were so many fish the nets were breaking, and they had to get more boats and nets to help.

I love this story found in Luke 5.

The other day as I was studying it, I had a light bulb moment.

It was obvious that the people were drawn to Jesus. They wanted to be near Him; they wanted to be as close to Him as possible.

Perhaps the fish felt the same way.

I wonder…did they begin to gather as they heard the Voice of their Maker?

I think so.

I think they couldn’t help themselves.

Where are you swimming today?

Much grace and peace my friends,
andy
