New Song

Ten kindred spirits sat in a circle, heads bowed, eyes closed. The man leading our group began reading this Psalm as we prepared our hearts to pray for the worship services beginning soon.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
Out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on  a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

He put a new song in my mouth
a hymn of praise to our God,
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord.
(Psalm 40:1-3)

As I listened, the words “new song” were highlighted in my spirit. And I began to pray for the “new song” many of us need.  David’s new song was a hymn of praise to his God. Our God.

Even if we have been singing praises for a long time, we serve a God of fresh beginnings and new songs. If our praise song has become stale, I’m sure He has a new melody for us to hear.

May we listen for the new song today as we place our trust in our Savior.

Grace and Peace,
andy

Today’s verse: This is a good song!
How precious concerning me are your thoughts, O God! How vast the sum of them! If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am with you. (Psalm 139:17,18)
