Making Psalm 139 Your Own

O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it …and you still like me. Love me. You hem me in– behind and before; you have laid your hand on me. I am safe. Thank you. (Psalm 139:1-5 addition mine.)

Take some time to read Psalm 139. Journal the parts of the scripture that speak to you and add your own words. Make it your own. I have a feeling that this exercise won’t just be for you but also for someone God will place in your path this week.

I love how it ends…

Search me, O God, and know my heart. Test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there be any offensive way in me, and lead me to the way everlasting. Purify me Lord. Know me. Settle me. I trust you.

What would you add to the Psalm to make it your own?

Much grace,
andy
