Keep Wanting More

My mornings come early again. I’ve been rising in the dark to take the newest member of the Lee household outside. Funny, I think God wants me awake before dawn. Children now grown, cat who woke me up at 4:00AM gone, and then…a baby with floppy ears, puppy breath, wagging tail and tiny bladder enters my life.

When my feet first hit the cement out our back door only a strip of pink horizon is evidence of what’s to come. But gently it does come, and before I know it, the sun is full in the sky, the birds are tuning up as an orchestra before the show, and the stars have faded into invisible.

I am fully aware of His presence in the beauty of the dawn. Fully aware of Him in the silence of a sleeping house, and fully aware of how desperately I need His Living Water. More than coffee.

This is where I fill up for the assignments of the day. Whether my ministry is to a neighbor or a nation I need to be filled with His Bread of Life. His nourishment.

Despite this routine I often feel I need more. So much more. I was feeling guilty about this until He whispered into my heart, “That is a good thing…always desire more of me. My riches are never ending. My love no one can fathom. Keep wanting more.”

That’s the word for us today my friends. There is one craving that is good. My prayer for us today is to be hungry and thirsty for Him. Desperate enough to forsake sleep, television, or ________(fill in the blank) for more of Him. And if you desire Him, don’t worry, He will help you get up. I find He is very creative.

Much grace,
andy

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? (Psalm 42:1,2).
