Growing Wings

“Hopelessness constricts and withers the heart, rendering it unable to sense God’s blessings and grace. It also causes you to exaggerate the adversities of life and makes your burdens seem too heavy for you to bear. Yet God’s plans for you, and His ways of bringing about His plans, are infinitely wise.”  ~ Madame Guyon

I’m not at a hopeless place currently, but I have experienced this desert . It’s a terrible place to be. Hope is as necessary as oxygen.

Hope became less when my focus was on this fickle world. But hope remains strong when it is placed on the One who is constant. Time and time again, I have to go back to Him. I think David also knew this struggle when he wrote these words:

Why are you downcast my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him my Savior and my God (Psalm 42:5).

If you are hopeless today, envision placing your hope in the hands of the One who is pure goodness. I read a quote on a magnet yesterday that said something like this, “When the caterpillar thought it was the end, he became a butterfly.”

Someday we’re gonna fly.

Much love and grace,
andy
