Christ's sacrifice/payment for our sin, debt

Debt

Debt. I hate it. It’s amazing how quickly debt can pile up.

Mike and I were having one of those fun money talks this morning. Yuck. We are typical Americans who have spent more than we have in the bank at the moment. Thanks to credit cards and college tuition.

Without going into too much detail, it is going to take diligence and many months (years) to get rid of it unless a bundle of cash falls out of the sky.
I am not a marathon runner. I like to get things done quickly. But I know I’m not alone in this department. Nobody likes to wait. Nobody really enjoys the sacrifice and extra effort. And we hate taking the long road. We like short-cuts.
As I was praying about all of this this morning and also praying about my post today, the Lord reminded me of a debt that doesn’t take a long time to be paid.
Of course, I’m talking about His payment for our debt of sin. We could never pay off the debt. So Jesus paid the price for us. Done! It doesn’t take months or years to pay the price for our debt. It only takes trust in Jesus as our Savior. In a moment of faith we are freed.
Just like resting in His hammock of love, we must rest in His payment for us. We’ve been taken care of. We are free of penalty or interest. Our debt toward God has been paid.
Just imagine yourself walking through the entrance of an amusement park or a concert or something you really wanted to go to but you didn’t have enough money to pay for the ticket. God’s grace is like having the person at the entrance ask your name and then tell you that somebody else has paid your way. You may enter. Free of charge.
No debt.
Complete acceptance
Enjoy.
Much love,
andy
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the RICHES of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who BELIEVE.
(Ephesians 1:17-19, emphasis mine)
