Bite of Bread: 7 Scriptures on the Holy Spirit

He told them to wait in Jerusalem.

“I am going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you’ve been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24: 49).

Can you imagine receiving this command? They had watched Him die, and experienced His victory over death. They’ve eaten with the resurrected Jesus, touched the nail scarred hands, laughed and cried, and then it was time for him to leave.

He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised . . . ” (Luke 24: 46-49).

That promise was the powerful Holy Spirit.

For most of my Christian life I lived without the awareness of Holy Spirit in me. I understood that God loved me and sent Jesus, His Son, but this Holy Spirit thing was a little weird. I mean, I wanted Him, but I didn’t allow myself to open up for all that Holy Spirit had to offer because the only people I knew who did that were strange.

But one day I met a lady who obviously walked with Jesus. She spoke with assurance and strength. And she heard God speak. I wanted that. The truth is: it’s available to all of us who have invited Jesus to live in us.

But we get so used to doing life on our own that we forget that God has given us power, supernatural power through His Spirit. This is how we know Jesus. This is how we discern what to do, what to say, what to pray!

Because we become the Temple of God.

He makes His home in our hearts so that He can help us with this life.

It’s a pretty big deal. He’s the difference.

Let’s study some scriptures about the Holy Spirit!

Grab your Bible and journal and jot these verses down. I love to write them out word for word in my notebook when I study. It always helps me settle my mind and focus on the words. Join me every morning for a cup of coffee (BYOC) and a Bite of Bread. I’ll be on Facebook Live at 8:20 M-F Lord willing. :). Hope you can join us for this daily broadcast.

Can I pray with you? Grab my hands.

“Jesus, we love you. Help us recognize your Spirit in us. Make us aware of your voice, your promptings, your wisdom, and your grace in us. Thank you for living in in our hearts. We’re humbled. Take over.  Amen.”

Oh boy, I’m excited if you prayed that prayer with me!!! Can’t wait to hear what God does. Be open to Him!

Digging Deep into the Spirit,

Andy
