A Mind Stayed on Him

A prayer in my journal a few weeks ago:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for your love and grace always. Constant. Gentle. Promised.

Forgive me for my lack of control over my thoughts. I want my mind to always be on You. Not me.

I also need to ask forgiveness for my out-of-control-life, but I know You don’t intend for me to be in control. You Are. Yet I feel a sense of responsibility to order my day. I relinquish it to You again.

Please help me practice thanksgiving all day—all week—all my life. Let it become the air I breathe. Then my thoughts will be on You, and the day will find Your order.

Thank you Jesus.

Amen.

You will keep in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because she trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord, is everlasting strength (Isa. 26:3-4).
